imho Religion will keep evolving, and will get away from the dark ages as we develop a better understanding of our divine origin, the more we are able to understand the workings of the universe the more religion will become a holy science.

If religion is to become obsolete, it will take some monumental non religious event.
If religion is pressured, believers will desperatley cling to it and react with hostility, maybe even violence. If religion is shown to be ficticious by reason, logic, and science, believers will merely ignore it all. This our current situation.

I still think y'all are confusing religion with faith in God, they are not the same. Irregardless, believers are not ignoring reason, logic and science..at least this one isn't...but none of those things deny the presence of God.

I may have missed it, but did anyone else notice the Op talks about 'religion' but then in very descriptive terms pretty much dials that anger in on Christianity?
I don't think the anger is about religion, I think it's about that Person who was born of a virgin, died, and rose again to free me from the chains that held me.

Yeah it seems that for some you either must love Jesus or you must hate him....never understood that.
BTW - Alpha you are up late playing tonight.

The OP is trolling. It is stereotyping and inflammatory. I could care less if it gets deleted or not. But it is certainly an angry vent of hostility and stereotyping towards anyone that believes in a higher power.
Hope you get over your anger problems there sophix.

Description of Jesus by Pulius Lentulus, Governor of Judea, addressed to Tiberius Ceasar, Emperor of Rome, Found in an excavated city written in Aramaic on stone.....
"There lives, at this time, in Judea, a man of singular virtue whose name is Jesus Christ, whom the barbarians esteem as a prophet, but his followers love and adore him as the offspring of the immortal God. He calls back the dead from the graves and heals all sorts of diseases with a word or a touch.
He is a tall man, and well shaped, of an amiable and reverend aspect; his hair of a color that can hardly be matched, the color of chestnut full ripe, falling in waves about his shoulders. His forehead high, large and imposing; his cheeks without spot or wrinkle, beautiful with a lovely red; his nose and mouth formed with exquisite symmetry; his beard thick and of a color suitable to his hair reaching below his chin. His eyes bright blue; clear and serene, look innocent, dignified, manly, and mature. In proportion of body, most perfect and captivating, his hands and arms most delectable to behold.
He rebukes with majesty, counsels with mildness, his whole address, whether in word or deed, being eloquent and grave. No man has seen him laugh, yet his manner is exceedingly pleasant; but he has wept in the presence of men. He is temperate, modest and wise; a man, for his extrordinary beauty and divine perfections, surpassing the children of men in every sense."
Jesus and His disciples were real, honest-to-goodness, flesh-and-blood, breathing, eating men, as well as spiritual giants. Their divinity was expressed through their humanity. In fact, if Jesus were not man, there is little hope that any of us could follow Him--and He never seemed to have any doubt that we can follow Him. There is no doubt of His existance and many witnessed His miracles.

Ugh....
First of all, I don't thing a belief in some sort of God or higher power will ever die, people long for purpose.
Second, the OP seems to think Christians are "stupid" or uniformed.... not the case at all! Both of my parents are college grads, my mom has her degree in micro-biology and my dad is an Air Force pilot. Not many people would consider them stupid. I too, will go to college and probably law school after that. I can name tons of people that are Christians that are very smart people.
Third, he talks about the Bible as if it were inaccurate. Once again, not the case! The Bible is backed up with numerous outside sources, especially the ressurection. And how is a belief in God so ridiculous? Can you offer any evidence to support this claim???
Lastly, religion has produced many bad things, but have you ever really stoped to think about all of the good it has done for both individuals and groups of people world wide.
As other people in this thread have noted, you seem to be on some anti-religioin (especially Christian) rant. I will pray for you, and that you will see the reasoning behind belief in God.

Exactly. So many times I find people start ranting and raving about religion and what they really hate is Christianity.
Strange.
And yeah, I'm up a little late. But I gotta unwind and see if Letterman has a decent Halloween show!

But we live in America, a predominantly christian country. I'll also assume that 90% of all posters are in America. Not many Americans know much about other religions, or only superficial at that. The one religion that I notice which is hated is islam.
I don't hate christianity. I don't hate anyone. I don't believe in hate.
I also don't think christianity has anything to do with Christ, except the name.
