Post News, Red, green lights to be banned? Committee proposal says colored Christmas twinklers too religious.

A special task force in a Colorado city has recommended banning red and green lights at the Christmas holiday because they fall among the items that are too religious for the city to sponsor.

"Some symbols, even though the Supreme Court has declared that in many contexts they are secular symbols, often still send a message to some members of the community that they and their traditions are not valued and not wanted. We don't want to send that message," Seth Anthony, a spokesman for the committee, told the Fort Collins, Colo., Coloradoan.

This one suspiciously sounds like a snopes. Have you checked it for its veracity?

Unless done properly, red and green lights look so "trashy" to me anyway. But, yeah, I'm wondering about the snopes thing.

I get the feeling that you're looking for Christian victims of a hostile government. You fail to mention that the overwhelming majority of Americans are Christians. Public officials are also pro Christian if they want to keep their jobs. This thread doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

It's from the WorldNetDaily. Have you read this periodical? John, can you find a corroborating article elsewhere?

Fort Collins is the center of the Evangelical movement, so there might be a little religious fervor that has been unleashed.

I find red and green lights on community streets to be dangerous if they are located near traffic lights. Yes, I have seen accidents because people got confused with the lighting.
