People started reporting and describing 'greys' way before Hollywood stepped in.

It's true that the description of small humanoid bodied aliens has been around for quite awhile but I was reading that the reports of alien abductions skyrocketed after the movie Communion in the late 80's and bore an uncanny similarity to the events in the movie. It just appears to me that movies, books and the media have had a strong influence on the public. Would aliens start becoming more active just because there was a hit movie about them?

WELL, I'm late to the game, as usual...but.... I saw a strange green light in the sky over the tree line, flying in ways that planes do not...several years ago and, since I couldn't identify it...I figured it was a UFO. I know one thing. I'll never forget it.

The key word is "reports", which means people came forward to report the incident, it does not mean the incidents were not happening prior to the movie Communion.
You should know (not that I am suggesting you are old) that society would not be so tolerant of UFO abuction stories prior to 1950's.
I know a lot of rural folks who would not dare speak of their sightings. It would be cause for ridicule. Best to just no talk about it back then. And yes, I know someone who has multiple sightings and maybe even an abduction who lives in KS. He will never go public. That's just the way it is in rural areas.

My dad, always a midwesterner at heart, did not report to anyone that he saw a UFO until decades later, and only then it was only me who he told.
He was a practical man and not given to flights of fancy.
He cared what others thought of him.
He believed in a universe that ran on mechanical principles, ultimately totally understandable by a rational mind.
I'm sure that those who ridicule the idea of UFOs can understand his dilemma because he was just like them at one time.
For some people such an occurrance can change so much of what they believe of the universe and man's place in it, so they just sort of pretend it never happened.

yea they are actually people from the future that come back to study us. they are bound by law to not get notice or interfere with us as that would severly alter the course of their history and our present. thats also why the government covers them up

I told everyone who would stand still long enough to listen. Can't remember how many of them thought I was certifiable. Didn't care. I'd give my last dime to see that thing again. Just to be sure...I'm not certifiable.

I believe they are the one's who started most of the religions, at least all but one. And it is my understanding they don't like the person who headed up that one.

I'm glad I was sitting down when I read that one! So the Muslims and the Hindus, etc. were all started by aliens? I guess I missed that edition of The National Enquiror. Anyway, I hope you're having a happy Easter.
