Default Christians: do you believe homosexuality is an abomination?

Do you take the bible literally when it states homosexuality is an abomination? Or do you believe the multidude of scientific evidence which suggests it's a natural variation of heterosexuality?

Leviticus 18:22
Leviticus 20:13
Romans 1:26-27
Genesis 19:4-5
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
1 Timothy 1:9-10

These are all great scripture passages regarding this. Homosexuality has probably been around as long as humanity itself, but for me it's not the sinner, it's the sin.

You should get some interesting discussion on this one.....

Right, and then Leviticus also states one shouldn't eat shell fish, women shouldn't wear jewelry, and people shouldn't swim.

In additon, Corinthians states that adulterers, idolators, male prostitutes, sodomizers (there was no word for homosexuality when the bible was written - that's how it was translated after the fact), and those who engage in pre-marital sex will not inhabit the "kingdom of god".

So the question is: why are gays targeted more harshly and critically than the other cardinal sins that won't get one into this so-called kingdom? It couldn't be prejudice and a reluctance to accept scientific reality, could it?

The bible states a multitude of inaccuate information about the shape, axis, and rotation of Earth, the cosmos, and species evolution, in addition to making absurd claims and historical occurances which have not the slightest bit of evidence to suggest they're true.

I don't understand that in 2008, someone can still rely on the bible to tell them what's right and wrong - I mean, it's been completely disproved in every regard.

Please enlighten us regarding these statements.

I'll take the Bible over scientific reality any day. Reason? Because one day scientific reality will cease to exist. However, God will always exist. That's not the only reason but my time is limited for the moment as I am working on some projects.

trnmeon,

Do a search on this and the Christianity subforum and you will find all the information, arguments, points, counterpoints, etc.

This subject does not work well on this (or probably any) internet forum. All it does it cause a blow up and makes the moderators work doubly hard (or triply if that's a word).

So the thread started as a question on homosexuality and we've already moved to the rotation of the Earth, cosmos, and evolution in like 3 posts..

Where's the foreplay.. I need to be wined and dined before I'm called an idiot.
