Top 50 Countries
With Highest Proportion of Atheists / Agnostics
(Zuckerman, 2005)

Below is a list of the top fifty countries containing the largest measured percentage of people who identify as atheist, agnostic, or non-believer in God. These figures do not necessarily represent the number of people who are identify themselves as "atheists." For example, in Estonia in 2004, 49% of people surveyed said they did not believe in God. At the same time, only 11% of people in the country identified themselves as atheists.

Looks like us nonbelivers will have friends to burn with, no but seriously they said that the number increased the more educated the people where, not implying anything but I wonder if the trend will increase in America.

The general trend is that the more wealthy a nation is the smaller number of religious people there are, there are a few exceptions to this general rule though. Most notably the US, but also countries like Vietnam.

It is obvious that the more educated people and cultures have more non-believers. Why are there 5 times more atheists in the "HOLY LAND" than there are in the USA? Because they are better educated. Five of the ten most influential people in history are atheists. Einstein, Freud, Lincoln, Darwin, Franklin, Jefferson, Edison, Galileo, just to name a couple

If you think all those guys were atheists you need to study a lil more and listen to the talking heads a lil less.

"If we go back to the beginning we shall find that ignorance and fear created the gods, that fancy, enthusiasm or deceit adorned them, that weakness worships them, that credulity preserves them and that custom, respect and tyranny support them, in order to make the blindness of men serve their own interests."

You would think supermike would have known that Einstein believed in God. Way to go alpha8207!!!!!!!

It is interesting to me as well, that the writer in the above article states that he and fellow unbelievers will burn, I guess because God has given to every man a measure of faith to believe in him, and because he has chosen to reject God his own concious is condeming him. Sad.

Allison,

Have you put your faith into our savior Zeus? I certainly hope you have not rejected him, for you will be sent to Hades if you don't worship him!

Hades was the ruler of Tartarus created after the war of the Titans. Hades was Zeus's sibling.
