Absurdities found in the Bible
From the Skeptic's Annotated Bible website:
SAB, Absurdities
Where did Cain's wife come from anyway? (Genesis 4:17)
Did you know that God once struck down the entire town of Ashdod with hemorrhoids? (1 Samuel 5:6-12)

Which would mean we are all the result of incest. Nope...can't accept that one. I prefer evolution from a lower form of man.

Only in our day and age (antediluvian), do we consider such a thing repulsive. We must remember that when Cain was sent away by God, he went and "dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden" (Gen. 4:16). This was a city already in existence where siblings of Cain had settled and intermarried! Cain may not have taken a sister for his wife but rather a descendant of one of his brothers or sisters.
Once the family of man had propagated to a certain extent, God changed the law concerning the marriage between brother and sister. Such a thing was no longer necessary, and it then became unlawful and sinful in God's sight (Leviticus 20:17).

esselcue: Truth is not found in our preferences. When Cain took his wife from among his close relatives, he was not committing incest. There was at that time no law forbidding such a thing since God had at first ordained it. He later changed His laws concerning it when it was no longer necessary. Once God declared it unlawful, it became incest.
It is extremely interesting that you find incest so repulsive, esselcue. From where do you get such feelings? After all, we are merely animals descended from a lower life form. Right? So who cares who or what we have sex with? It is God's law written on your conscience that convicts you that incest is wrong!

Cain's wife was probably his sister. Incest was not a sin before the law against incest was given as Romans 5:13 explains.
But atheists have no clue what the history of man is since they don't know from which "primate" man allegedly descended. So they have no clue who the first speaking man was. So the absurdities come from scientists, not God. Sorry.

I guess that is the only way you can explain the creation story, huh? I find it sad that people will accept incest, but not natural evolution.
