I would have been more impressed if it hadn't asked for money at the end.

Any donations made are used for schools or books. Those things can't be built or made for free.

But they can sure be made without Garchen, or Buddha, or any of the others...

The point is that this is a wonderful monk who is doing wonderful things and schools need to be built and books need to be published and these
things cannot be built or made for free. There were no demands made and
only a simple request for a donation IF someone felt so inclined.

You said it yourself. 'these things cannot be built or made for free..'
Yet this monk has no problem asking people for their money --for free
Do you feel as highly about businesses that actually build way more buildings and books without but provide services to people for their income?

Buddhists believe in loving kindness and compassion. We have compassion for others. The monk was not asking money for himself and Buddhists would know this. If we are able to help others in any way , financially or otherwise we should. We should put others before ourselves.
