Where does a soul come from?
This is a philosophical question. So where exactly does a soul come from? Is there a stock pile of them in heaven? Does one magically appear when a person is born (conceived) or whatever? I've been pondering this one lately.

Soul is nothing more than a confusion of human consciousness.
Dead people are unconscious, there is no "soul" in question; some people are alive but unconscious, there is no "soul" in question.
Some other people have screwed minds -- they are medically conscious but they have wrong "souls"...

From my teachings, the soul is the real you. The material body is only for the earth life because the soul cannot sustain itself here. The soul is encased in the spirit body (it's also called Morontia form, in which Jesus looked like when He resurrected), in which you will see when you die. Eventually, if you reach Paradise (where God is) you will only be soul and have a soul mind. There will be nothing left of the material or material world.
To have no soul, you have to be completely insane. People who have Alzheimers, have no soul because the soul has left the body. It in no way means they cannot get it back when they go into the spirit world because it is not insanity, only those who choose not to have it back, and, only those who are clinically insane, who destroyed their soul on earth, won't have a soul and will perish upon death of the material body. I know of no one like that although the closest one would probably Charles Manson although he can still be redeemed at this time. He will need to make a choice sooner or later. My guess is he won't. This subject isn't discussed a lot with my teachings so I will have to do more research and ask one of my teachers but this is what i have learned so far.

When God created the universe, all the souls were created. The souls were assembled and God asked who will they worship? All replied 'We testify that You are our Creator and we only worship You'. Then each soul is released to earth to be born in the time determined for each.
How each soul turned out is also dependent on which house he/she was born into.
In Islam, Paradise and Hell incorporate phsyical and spiritual ie we will have our physical bodies and will interact with our fellows in paradise. Hell is physical and its tortures physical.

The soul is the entity or part of us that loves.
My mother had a head injury from a car accident. She lost her short term, and some long term, memory. However, she remained the loving person she had come to be. She died years ago but I still feel her love with me.
I believe it is our capacity to love, (which hopefully grows during our lifetime), that grows our soul.

I don't believe that souls exist and I see them as a human invention to explain the widespread belief in an afterlife. Afterall, if a person dies and is supposed to go on to another world they would have to exist in some form other than the physical body they have left behind so it became necessary to invent this entity. Of course from my perspective, none of the questions about where souls come from or what is the nature of the soul are valid questions because souls are make believe.

I agree. With the evolution of the human species came a highly conscious brain capable of abstract thinking and introspection. From this highly evolved brain we have become aware of our own death. In order to protect the fragility of our own awareness of self/conscience, we have invented the idea of soul that will live on after our death.
This in turn has lead us to have to a innate narcissism that we are somehow different from all of other life on this earth, that we are somehow more valuable because we have this soul. We invented the idea of a God who shares our own sense of the value of our souls.
A few short steps later and voila..you have organized religion.

I would say that like me, Montana is a realist, not a cynic.
