Lordship Salvation
Lordship Salvation is the teaching that a person must submit to Christ in obedience in order to receive salvation. This is contradicted by the "free grace" teaching that says such a submission is not required. Conservative, evangelical Protestants are divided over this issue. People such as John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, J.I. Packer adhere to the Lordship position, while Zane Hodges, Charles Ryrie, Charles Stanley and others teach the free grace position. Both sides can support their positions with scripture and have published many books and articles for their respective positions.
Now where does this leave the average shmo who wants to be "saved"? How can a person know what is really required in order to procure salvation? Could God have not made is clear beyond any doubt or ambiguity what is required for salvation?

I see a big problem with this statement. Every single person here calling themselves a christian thinks that the holy spirit talks to them. And let's say it is 20 different people...there will be 10 different answers supposedly "from the spirit"....so who's right? EVERY Christian thinks they are RIGHT.

John 14:26 says He enables you to discern truth from error. He makes all things know to you. If you study the Bible you can trust Him to plant truth in your mind.

So then how do you know that YOU are discerning the truth from error and not the other guy? I did read the bible and "prayed for wisdom"...all I got was more and more confused.

Good point. Not to mention the other thread about god sending people to hell who never heard of him (as the bible describes). Some people are saying that god reveals himself for all to know him. Then why have a bible, and churches, and preachers, and missionaries, etc...if god revealing himself for all then there is no need for the other stuff.

I believe if a person's faith is real it'll show fruit.

Which is the true gospel, the "Lordship" or the "free grace"? Who's right, MacArthur or Ryrie?
