Default Question for Athiests/Agnostics

Why would you come to a religion forum when you don't believe? I would never think of going to an athiest/agnostic forum. I have no time or interest in arguing about something that is the most important thing in my life.

I'm not trying to accuse anyone or start anything. You're certainly welcome here and perhaps we may learn something from each other. However, I'm curious to find out what motivates you to post here.

Thanks!

Curiosity ,just curious to know what believers think of their own religion compared to other religions, what they think of us (the atheists),do believers in general find it OK to have non believers friends, how sensitive they're to a religious discussion ,or to jokes ...etc

And to remind myself ,that there are still believers in this world-sometimes I forget

Good question!
I'm not interested in real estate or pets so I don't go to those forums.
Thanks for your response jenali and its nice to know some people are just sincerely interested but somehow I don't think that's the reason for everyone.

Yes, that is a good question. I enjoy debating and discussing this topic and generally on a forum like this there's going to be the question of belief versus nonbelief. Also, you must admit, religious people are always trying to convert non believers. My motivation is to do the same thing except in reverse. I happen to think that my atheism is a very positive thing and I like to share my thoughts and opinions and hopefully get someone who's not sure about their beliefs to consider atheism and what it really means to be an atheist.

Because of curiousity! You can't dismiss something without being very educated on the subject. Do you think agnostics and atheists decided to so without studying religion in the first place? That's why I usually find agnostics and athiests to be much more knowledgeable on the contents of the Bible than many run-of-the-mill christians (i'm not talking about clergy here...just everyday "believers"). Part of that understanding is also learning why other people DO believe in god.

Are you bothered that agnostics or atheists come to this board? If your faith is so strong you shouldn't have a problem with dissenting opinions, in fact you should welcome them! Isn't it your duty as a christian to try to put these nonbelievers back onto the path of salvation? Or is this board just a pep rally?

I like to share my thought and opinions also and possibly get atheists to consider what it means to be Christian. I am not out to convert anyone and I personally take exception to that. Why is sharing your belief in God and the Savior and things that are dear "converting"??

I think many of us grew up in religious households before coming to atheism and understand what it means to be Christian. Politics, religion, sports .... people are interested in discourse.

I don't mean that in a negative way, it's just that Christians consider it to be their responsibility to "spread the word" as they say. Everyone has had someone representing a religious group come to their door at some point in their life. I've never heard of atheists making house calls. Have you? I'm just interested in discussing this topic in a friendly and non hostile way. I realize your belief is important to you but I also consider my atheism to be an important part of my own life and I'm just trying to explain what I think to people on this forum as well as listening to what they have to say.
