Well since Wiccans worship the Goddess and the Father...you would still have to believe in something that isn't proven. So how would that be different for you in terms of "never having seen" God?

I have always wondered what Wiccans believe, I used to work with a lady who was, but never had a chance, or appropriate time to ask. What do they believe?

My sister-in-law is Wiccan, so this is what she believes, there are many variations amongst people who call themselves Wiccan much as there are variations amongst Christian denominations. Great credit is and worship is given to the Goddess, she is the mother of all, the creator of the earth, eath's beings and nature. The Father is the creator of the celestrial (heavens and sky). They believe in the rule (or law) of threes, which in simple terms is: conduct, responsibilty and atonement for one's actions. To put it even simpler what you put out in the universe you will get back...so do good and good will come to you, do evil and evil will come to you. There are many rituals and "spells" that are involved with the belief and worship of the Goddess, but not all Wiccans prescribe to this either. Again this not all encompassing I'm sure you can google more information that is clearer, but this is how my sister-in-law explained it to me.

Default Wiccan-why??

You said "why not," about Wiccan but I would say, "why?" I recently chatted with someone on this forum who seemed like a nice guy who says he is Wiccan. It seems like a belief system that some are attracted to, but is there any real evidence to support believing in it? As Irishmom posted earlier it does involve a belief in a god and the supernatural. So... Just "liking" a religion doesn't seem a good enough reason to me if you know what I mean. A lot more credible evidence for Christianity me thinks!

You can have a perfectly fulfilling life being an atheist or an agnostic. Just don't pick a religion because everyone else seems to be doing it.

I am not a Wiccan, but, I am a Pagan.I believe in the Goddess as Maiden, Mother and Crone. I do believe in the God - actually, I see them as representations - male and female of everything.

Wicca is to Paganism as Baptists are to Christianity or Hasidm to Judism ... a defined and organized religion following a similiar spiritual path.

Someone mentioned that there was more credibility in Christianity, or more proof... interesting, since many things Christian, were adopted from the Pagan practices - holidays, alters, decorations and arguably, some would say a God and a Goddess and their offspring.

I wonder if the discovery of the Wilendorf Goddess which pre-dates Christianity by a few zillion years is any proof? How about those cave drawings? How about all those spirit quests?? Ever hear of Stone Henge? Sorry - I forgot the Earth of Christians was only 2,000 years old. Those antiquities were also produced by people who didn't know any better - they were not literate like that Roman Ceasar who had a vision during battle and decided Christianity was the way to rule people.

I was raised Catholic and just found a different path - no regrets, no anger. I still distantly participate in that Church as it gives my family great peace, but for myself, I do walk in a different road now. I don't need to convert anyone at the end of a sword - I need my sword for ceremonial magic.

My philosophies are much different now - here are a few of them:

* Live and let live
* 'an it harm none, do what thout wilt
* Stay in the fellowship where you found it
* Keep right except to pass

Cheers and Blessed Be,

Linda

I like the idea that there is a female and male god in Wicca...I don't agree with the use of religion to keep women in their place as christianity (in my opinion) does...

True, Christianity is only around 2000 years old, not the earth. We believe that the Jews were Gods chosen people, but Jesus paved the way for "whosoever" by his death upon the cross, therefore grafting us into being his children.
