I know you said it's personal and not the result of your religious belief but would you mind sharing whatever problem you have with interracial marriages? If you don't want to, I understand. Thanks.

He asked if racism is a product of religion. So I was answering that it is not a product of religion, and that it exists because of personal beliefs not religious ones. Unfortunately it permeates our society amongst those of many faiths and is usually handed down from generation to generation. Now if you don't believe that having a problem with interracial marriage stems from racism then I would be interested in what you think it stems from.

Well, my religious beliefs certainly don't affect how I view interracial marriage. My daughter is married to a Puerto Rican, and they are madly in love with one another. He comes from a good decent family, he is a very nice young man, he's responsible, he takes good care of his family, (they have two boys). We love him to pieces!
That being said, my parents, who claim the name of "Christian", adamantly stated that my daughter had sinned by marrying him and had brought a curse upon her family, by having the children. They will not claim, or acknowledge her, her husband, or the boys. They tried to use scripture to make their point, and were furious that I refused to go along with their beliefs. They made it plain that they wanted nothing to do with me, or them, so I have obliged them.
Normally, I'm the type that would keep trying to fix a relationship, (we'd already had problems, for which I took my share of responsibility, and had asked forgiveness for, in all sincerity), but when they attacked my daughter and my grandsons, that was the end of it. Unless they ever come to me first, (which they won't), whatever relationship we had, is over, (and has been, for a few years). I will not tolerate anyone's hateful attitude about such a thing as interracial marriage. Although society, itself, may have problems with it, certainly no one who claims to be a Christian should make such nonsensical statements, and try to back it up with scripture. What a travesty!

Oh this is so sad to hear. No matter what you believe children are a gift and are innocent...they are missing out on that gift by denying them. {{Hugs}}

If you are a caucasian then you are part of the same racial group as someone who is spanish. There are just three major racial groups: cacausoid, mongoloid and negroid. Hispanics are not a separate racial group any more than Italians who also tend to be darker skinned. I see nothing wrong with interracial marriage as I stated earlier but if you're white this isn't even an interracial marriage.

Yes, and I tried to tell them all that, but they are so stuck in their own way of thinking, that they just cannot conceive that possibly, just maybe, they might be the ones in the wrong! It is their loss.
Thank you for the hugs! We can all use more of those, yes?

Anyone who thinks this is wrong is a sad, sad individual, and maybe lack love themselves. Sorry, that anyone tried to tell you it is wrong...

But there are differences in the Hispanic community...some are white, some are not and have more negroid features. If Hispanic is not a race, then the people could be any race with a Hispanic ethnicity...is that correct?
For instance, those from Haiti are Hispanic but also black. I've known Cubans who were white and some who were black. I've known some Puerto Ricans who could be considered either/both....are they all of mixed blood then and could be considered either?

You're absolutely correct -- it's their loss. It's difficult to imagine that they wouldn't open their hearts to the children. But in that case, the kids are probably better off without having that influence in their lives.

Try telling my parents that! Not that they would believe you, but you're welcome to try. Actually, I never gave it much thought, about how you explained the racial grouping. Guess I just go by the "red and yellow, black and white" thing. I don't know much about genetics, or whatever science this would be under. I was just making a point, that to jump up and down, ranting and raving about interracial marriage, particularly while using (twisting) scripture to back up your arguments, is wrong.
