I would think that Christians wouldn't have a problem with it although I've never really heard ministers say anything one way or the other (not that I really listen to ministers very often ). Does anyone have any thoughts about it?

I am Roman Catholic. I have no problem with interracial marriages. Love is love.

Well, I know of a family, thier kids don't seem the least bit racist, and the parents are VERY nice people, they are hospitable, sweet, and entertaining. The thing is though, I remember buying a book with all of Grimm's Fairytales in it, maybe some of you know the story of the Hedgehog and the Hare, it is about a hedgehog and his wife being able to fool a hare and win a race because they looked the same, the moral of the story was that everybody should marry somebody who looks like him, hedgehog with hedgehog, hare with hare, etc. Well, I told that story because I thought it was amusing, I did not tell them that I disagreed with the story but they laughed at the story and said something like "That's what we have always tried to teach our boys" that suprised me, but they are very nice people so I didn't make a big deal out of it. It was in the midst of a conversation of things that used to be common in society that couldn't be done anymore (we were watching the old "Little Rascals" TV shows on a DVD and the conversation was sparked when it showed a clip of Buckwheat cooking over a large pot, he wiped the sweat off his head and flicked it off to the side and it left black spots on the wall and it took us all by suprize). Also, as I stated earlier, my grandmother is pretty racist as well, I remember her telling me about how one time a long time ago the school her children attended had sent home some books and the illustrations often showed mixed race families, she wrote in to the school and they ended up getting a lot of letters so they switched the books out. But I love my grandmother, and my friends' parents, they are just a bit confused, I wouldn't go so far as to call them sad, sad people though, the best that we can do is try to set an example and hope that it will influence other people.

True. You're also in the same racial group as Iranians, Indians, and many North Africans. Don't let skin color fool you.
Classifying peoples by race is inaccurate anyway. Culture and language separate us much more than the color of our skin.

That being said, my parents, who claim the name of "Christian", adamantly stated that my daughter had sinned by marrying him and had brought a curse upon her family, by having the children. They will not claim, or acknowledge her, her husband, or the boys. They tried to use scripture to make their point, and were furious that I refused to go along with their beliefs. They made it plain that they wanted nothing to do with me, or them, so I have obliged them.
Normally, I'm the type that would keep trying to fix a relationship, (we'd already had problems, for which I took my share of responsibility, and had asked forgiveness for, in all sincerity), but when they attacked my daughter and my grandsons, that was the end of it. Unless they ever come to me first, (which they won't), whatever relationship we had, is over, (and has been, for a few years). I will not tolerate anyone's hateful attitude about such a thing as interracial marriage. Although society, itself, may have problems with it, certainly no one who claims to be a Christian should make such nonsensical statements, and try to back it up with scripture. What a travesty!

How sad, Celtic. My niece is half-black, and her dad was/is a complete jerk, to put it EXTREMELY mildly. My parents are as right-wing, fundemental, conservative and even judgemental as they come, but even THEY would find your parent's attitudes heartbreaking. They've done nothing but love her because she's blood!
I do have an uncle (mom's bro in law) who won't even acknowledge my neice and we have heard through the grapevine that my sister "has brought shame upon our family by having an "n-word" child". I choose not to acknowledge HIM anymore, and it's sad that he can find time to hate a beautiful child, based on nothing but prejudice. Even worse, he's a pastor and has stated he would kick out any black person that walked through the door of the church.
God is love indeed!

On the flip side, I have seen some of the most prejudicial people have their eyes opened when they are gifted with a bi-racial grandchild and realize just how insignificant race is .

Agreed. Very True. When I was younger, my mother would always tell me that I better marry my own kind otherwise she would never acklowedge any children born to me. Well, I didnt marry my own kind and I have a daughter now who is half white and half Asian. And BOY, is she eating those words now. Guess who can't live without her granddaughter now and can't go a day without seeing her and kissing her??

Oh yes, definately. In fact, my mom's mom, while not a card-carrying KKK member, was pretty prejudiced, but fell in love with my neice. It changed her (for the better).

I like to think that if staunch racists do happen to squeak their way into Heaven, God probably appears to them as the object of their disdain.
Just think. David Duke marches up to the Throne of God, only to see Al Sharpton sitting there. Louis Farrakhan marches up to see Pat Boone.

The only restriction the Bible makes that has been applied to marriage is believers should not be yoked with unbelievers. Even in this instance, it is written that if you are a believer married to an unbeliever, do not leave him/her for only that reason, but stay and through your actions show the love of Christ and help them to become saved.
Personally, I had a girlfriend in high school who was Asian. My sister is married to a black man. As believers, color shouldn't matter at all.

Very well said. As a Christian, race does not matter since God wants us to treat all races equally. My wife is Hispanic, so I'm not sure if that qualifies as interracial. I am caucasion.
It is very sad when I encounter Christians (some in my own family unfortunately) who look down on it as some sort of sin. If God brings two people together, who are they to judge?
As for the white supremists, they make me sick. They are hypocritical because some of them claim to be Christians (which they are not), while hating people simply because they are of a different race. The Bible calls these people liars.
God bless those of you who have chosen to marry interracially and may you find much happiness with each other.
