Zeus will strike you with lightening FOREVER unless you believe what I believe. Did that work?
I'd give a lot more credence to Zeus, as I have seen lightening, I have seen the effects of lightening, I've seen some really impressive displays put on by Zeus, thus evidence of the god Zeus does exist.
And I fear lightening enough to not stand under tall trees in a lightening storm, and especially not to wear obnoxious pants, ground myself with steel spikes on my shoe soles, and walk around in the open with a bag of lightening rods in a bag on my shoulder.
Now this other minor god, I've seen nothing of his powers or places, no light shows, nothing....... so I'm very very dubious of the god god being anything buy legend.
If they are fearful (they often aren't), then maybe. If not, it probably won't.
Having been an atheist my entire adult life I can say honestly that I have never met an atheist who was afraid of hell. Heaven and hell are a game believers play with themselves. Non believers are indifferent to the heaven and hell game in exactly the same way that Christians are indifferent to voodoo spells and general mumbo-jumbo .
I can't imagine it working on someone who has chosen atheism because he or she values reason and science, but it could probably work on someone who was undecided or didn't have any strong beliefs or opinions in the first place.
I would rather burn in hell than bow to the monster that would create such a place.
