I saw this on another thread. I think it will be interesting to see how the church defends this priest as compared to the pedophiles.

When will the religious wake up and start living life in the here and now. So much GOOD could be done with the money they pass to these corrupt churches and the people who run them.

Why are there so many priests attracted to males? I don't get it. What drives gay men to join an organization that, at least officially, opposes homosexuality?

Homosexuals are to be celibate by church tradition so some of them may feel becoming a priest will make their celibacy something praised rather than a silent matter. Many stick with the celibacy, but the more notable ones slip or just give up on it after a few years.

In Evangelical Protestantism homosexuality is just seen as not existing at all or as a choice. (Catholic thinking is that same-sex attractions are real, and not necessarily a choice, but that gays/lesbians are called to chastity) So homosexuals there just leave, although sometimes they too become ministers in hopes greater devotion can keep them from acting on their desires. (And it can, but for a variety of reasons we're only going to know the cases where it fails. The cases where homosexuals are chaste they usually don't admit they are homosexual. Most of the cases I know of where a person says they are a celibate homosexual the person is Anglican or Catholic)
