Hmmm... sorry, I didn't ask if it was really the case... I posted... "this isn't really the case." This is what I know.

There are two loves... the natural love that we are all born with and Divine Love, which as I posted, comes from our Heavenly Father... and there is no other way that we can get this Divine Love... it is a gift from Him... free for the asking.

Now some people's natural love may be more purified than others... those who don't believe in a higher power, for instance, may be very sweet and loving people and they may do all kinds of good things for the planet, but the notion that we have "divine" within us... without our souls actually longing for and receiving it... well, this is simply a new age thought that is incorrect.

When you receive Divine Love in your soul, it's unmistakable and its so powerful... the natural love can't compare with it in it's intensity and also the happiness, peace, joy and freedom that it brings.

In fact, the bible diverts our attention away from the truth and spiritual awareness. It forces us to put our faith into an unseen "invisible friend" that will send us to hell if we don't bow down and submit to "him".

We are our own "Gods". I know this because we have free will. We can do ANYTHING we want. Now, there are consequences to every action, but NOTHING can stop us from doing anything. Hence the reason why there are "good" people and "bad" people. This is why the God of the bible has failed to stop all human suffering on Earth. It is because the bible God does not exist. The only God that can end all human suffering are the nearly 7 billion human "Gods" living on this planet. I say, stop repenting and start treating your neighbor with some respect. If we all did this, Earth would be truly "saved".
I do not know if I existed before birth. I'm just going by what I can consciously remember. It was blackness. There was nothing. That is how I would like it to be when I die. That of course would be far more preferable to the "hellfire and brimstone" that awaits the "unsaved" in the religion that my family forced onto me growing up.

I have tried to love that "invisible friend" you have referred to for most of my life, yet I often feel that that love is not reciprocal. The bold part of your quote is something I have always wondered myself. I do believe that there is a "god", but I'm beginning to believe that it is not a being that meddles with human affairs. Does that make me a deist? I'm just looking to see what others think of the topic of this thread.

Ok, I totally understand where you are coming from now. I have had the same questions about God as you in the past (and I live in the bible belt, so it is much worse here than the Pac NW when it comes to people shoving the bible down your throat). As a result, I decided to do a little research on the origins of the bible God. What I found was simply shocking.

My research led me to ancient Iraq (Sumer). Sumer is one of the oldest civilizations on Earth. In Sumer, one could find Earth's first language, first writing, first government, first public education, first city grid of streets, etc etc. Basically, every characteristic of modern civilization was first formed in Sumer. Sumer is also where we found the first religion (and this is where things get interesting.)

The Sumerians had Gods (the Annunaki). These Annunaki (just like modern day God) were believed to be the creators, masters, and judges of the Sumerian people. In the biblical creation story, God made Earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th. In the Sumerian creation story, the Annunaki flew past 6 planets and landed on the 7th (Earth). YES!!!! The Sumerians firmly believed that their "Gods" were people from a 10th planet in our Solar System called Nibiru.

What is interesting is that the Sumerians knew that Earth was the 3rd planet from our sun. Heck, it surprised me that these people even knew they were on a round planet (but they did!!!). Back to the Sumerian creation story. The Sumerians believed that the Annunaki created humans by giving a genetic boost to homo-erectus nearly 450,000 years ago. It was the Annunaki that orginally made the statement "let us place our likeness onto man". In the bible, it states "let us make man in our image".

I'd LOVE to tell you more, but it would take all night. What I can tell you is that our bible God of the old testament clearly has his roots in ancient Iraq. One more thing. The Annunaki called man "Adamu" and the land man lived on the "Eden".

Here is one of MANY videos available on this topic.

YouTube - ANNUNAKIpt3 Seven Tablets of Creation.

Like I said, there are SEVERAL videos, books, and tapes just on the subject of the Annunaki. The books are by far the most detailed. Any way, after doing some research on the Annunaki (and origin of religions Worldwide) I no longer felt the need to worship "God" (or anything else for that matter). In almost every culture, "God" was a title given to every unexplained phenomenon. Personally, I think aliens are the phenomena most responsible. The research I've done is very convincing.

Urbancharlotte, yes, if one does their research they find that the Bible is nothing more than the rewording of text that came before. You find the same thing in the NT, Jesus is nothing more than the recreation of Mithras, Horus and those of the ancient civilizations that came prior, this is nothing new. Like you, I also have given up on the 'God" of the bible, I've never really understood why, if this God is so powerful, it has the need to be worshipped, or why It gets angry, you know all those unsightly traits we find in people.
