I was raised in the super-conservative, [British] stiff upper lip, Protestant Caribbean. That is all you need to know.

I was raised in a secular home that celebrated Christmas and Easter. I was raised with ethical monotheism. Now I am a Jew.

I like the way you phrased that urbancharlotte: "... for I do not worship any Gods."
I do not worship either.
I was raised a Christian, but never accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. I view Jesus as a sage (or a rabbi, if they had existed back then) on par with the many wise men from a multitude of cultures.

Raised Methodist, and even went to a Methodist-affiliated college.
Now effectively atheist, but comfortable with European-based paganism and Native American spirituality.

I was raised in the Church of God of Prophecy, wherein my maternal grandfather was a Bishop. Said Church is now part of the Assemblies of God. Can you say "fundamentalist"? I knew you could! Can you say "Pentecostal"? Once again, I knew you could!
Now ask me about my current beliefs and practices...

Glad you asked, Dewdrop. [I knew I could count on you!]
I have read, listened, thought, and considered, and in general I can find no flaw with what Christ himself said and taught (realizing, of course, that Christ personally wrote nothing that could be passed on to future generations). Generally speaking, I find Christ's teachings to be constructive, helpful, additive and supportive.
On the other hand, I personally find that the practices of most so-called "Christians" are destructive, combative and regressive. My personal opinion is that, for a large number of them, their patron saint must be Saint Ebeneezer (Scrooge).
Because of this, I have variously described myself as a "non-affiliated Christian", a "Seventh-Day Agnostic", and others. I absolutely refuse to characterize myself as "Christian" because, simply put, I do not and will not believe or practice what they seem to believe and practice.
Instead, I describe myself as "one who follows the teachings of Christ as he understands them."

I was kind of "dual-hatted". My grandparents are Traditionalists while my mom is Roman Catholic (she took the white man's road in our speak - and that is fine BTW). She's still very Catholic. My father is irrelevant as he walked out on us when I was nine as was of little influence. He was a very secular non-NDN for what it matters and wasn't home much anyway.
So I went to Catholic School and Catechism, Mass and all that (K-12), but at the same time my grandparents were a HUGE influence on me. Catholicism never really took in me and I walked away from the Church back in 1984. After messing around with a coupleof non-Catholic denominations for a few years (Southern Baptist and Assembly of God), I walked away from Christianity forever and decided to stick with the ways of my people. It is what was right for me.

Raised Southern Baptist. I never did believe any of it, though. Thank goodness for that. I did get a small dose of other Christian faiths as well. Some came across to me as more whacked out than Southern Baptist, and that is saying a lot!
