Only because it's organized. Otherwise, we could say the baptist are the most corrupt disorganizations on earth. One thing I can say for catholics - at least they're not baptist.
They get special treatment, any other organization that act like them would have had the ring leaders arrested.
And it's nothing new. The church and it's inquisitions subjected millions to torture. The Crusades killed a million Muslims. Young women were tortured and burned at the stake for witchcraft. Blowing young boys is actually a minor offense when compared to their other crimes.
