I'm thinking...I would be willing to read a book by an atheist author making a case for atheism if you guys will read a book by a Christian author making a case for Christ.

Then we can discuss what we read. Any thoughts on that?

Default Always up for a challenge???

Okay....I'm game...

However, I would imagine that it would be somewhat difficult, given the number of atheists on this forum, to come up with a "group consensus" as regards what book to chose...Depends on who/how many want to take on your invitation/challenge.

I love the Lord and what the Bible has to say, that I don't really care what an Atheist author has to say.I'll pass.

That's too bad, because I do care what an Atheist has to say. That has nothing to do with my love for the Lord.

Indeed it will be hard because it is an invitation to cognitive dissonance. However, taken from an acquisition of knowledge perspective, dissonance can be avoided. I've actually done something similar but it was in relation to creation/evolution where I'd read a creationist work such as by Duane Gish, for example, and they would read something by someone like Ernst Mayr. It usually doesn't change either person's mind but in that situation it did help clear up some misconceptions.

That was kind of the idea behind it...not conversion. It was more of a way to have an indepth study of the other side of things. I don't know, I was thinking it would actually help the discussions on here get to a whole different level.
