Default Bible literalists, and those who believe in a biblical-era global deluge...

How do you justify the current population level of the world, from only 8 people ~4000 years ago?

This thread might not go too far.

Do people who take the bible literally even know what the internet is and would they even be able to reply?

great topic!
kinda hard to pend down exactly all the bottlenecks man-kind has re-evovled from but i do not believe man-kind has suffered a global bottle-necking within the last 4,000 years.
there's records of a volcanic winter that occurred about 73,000 years ago. i have'nt really been able to find anything more recent. i'am going to keep searching the topic.
also, some believe the sphinx exhibits gross water damage giving some creedance to Noah's flood, but experts have estimated that the flood would have had to have occurred 10-12,000 years ago. so still no banana.

The problem is that the numbers just don't work out. Between 1000 and 1800-ish, the world's population growth was about .123%. At that rate, the population would have grown to its present size from the eight Flood survivors in 16,660 years. So...not for many thousands of years yet.

Even if we up that to a very generous 0.5%, and ignore the fact that pop growth isn't constant, and ignore deaths from war, famine, plague, natural disaster, etc...even then, there still wouldn't have been more than a dozen or so people around to build the pyramids at Giza; Moses would have only had about 750 people to lead out of Egypt (the entire world's population) and Xerxes army of 2.6 million...well, there would only have been about 90,000 people on the whole planet at that point in time.

The numbers just don't add up, even giving them a grotesquely inflated advantage.

Wouldnt everyone be jewish if the flood killed everyone else but noah and his family. I think that different races are proof enough that the flood didnt happen.
