Those countries with the highest levels of religiosity are almost uniformly the countries with the HIGHEST rates of violent crime, the HIGHEST murder rates, the HIGHEST rates of incarceration, the HIGHEST incidences of civil strife, political assassination and internecine warfare. Conversely, the countries with the LOWEST levels of religiosity, presumably those with the least morality, actually have societies in which the EVILS god and man purportedly abhor are least common.
Meaning Without God: Why I Don't Believe - Religious Societies Are More Violent, Dangerous, and Unstable than Irreligious Societies
This should not be a surprise to anyone that pays attention to society and the events that play out daily.

Of course the US, with all the christians screaming from their mythology based views about being a christian nation (which it is NOT) and how that is a good thing. Ah but then in the bright and unforgiving light of truth and fact that is clearly proven to be a lie, in a nation that has the largest percentage of its citizens imprisoned of any other nation on the planet.

Religion is the greatest ill that plagues society.

Yes, the US is a good example, especially in the bible belt.

You can continue your charade of denial born in ignorance or you can follow the link and find out.

Nor was the term atheist used, that is until you choose to stick your fingers in your ears and blather more believer intolerance babble, but there is a vast difference in the amount of influence religion has in different countries, and you likely know that, but to admit it would show your point to be completely pointless, as it would support the article. But again, you would have to read the link, and most importantly open your mind.

In this country christians, are the problem, look at the facts, look at the prison statistics, look at the crime stats, and stop listening to the nonsense on Sunday mornings.

Sure. Deism is not an religion and it far more logical and rational than Christianity ever will be.

Because quite a few Christians want to impose their beliefs into our courtrooms, schools and laws in their quest to turn the country into a Bible-based theocracy.

And I care about that quite a bit. Enough to take up arms.
As any patriot should.

Poverty and instability sometimes make people turn to religion more, so the nations that are like 90% religiously intense usually are unusual in those things. However there are many irreligious societies that are violent or unstable.

Belarus was on the other threads list of irreligious nations. Here's some stats there.

WHO: Suicide rates (http://www.who.int/mental_health/prevention/suicide/suiciderates/en/ - broken link) - High suicide rate for 2000.
International Human Development Indicators - UNDP - Homicide rate above that of the US or India.

It's also something of a dictatorship.

Estonia

The above showed it's homicide and suicide rates are both above Poland's.

Russia - Homicide and suicide rates both above Poland's, ongoing conflicts in the Caucuses.

Vietnam had conflicts with some Hmong until fairly recently and is oppressive to bloggers as well as others. Britain and France have robbery rates higher than the US, Malta, or Ireland. France is admittedly better than us in most crime. Britain is lower than us in suicide, but is almost the same in homicide and I believe is higher in assault. Malta and Cyprus are lower than France in homicide and I believe in suicide too. Egypt is also listed as lower in France in those if you desire a poorer nation.

International Human Development Indicators - UNDP

Also the following may or may not be an example of a "bad atheist."

Younger of teenage killers a self-described 'nihilistic atheist' (http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Younger+teenage+killers+self+described+nihilistic+ atheist/3738524/story.html - broken link)

No surprise, he likes Nietzsche. (He's kind of the "go-to" guy for atheists who are also crazy) Possibly surprising his Dad is a murder.
