Pastors, since they live an otherwise conventional life (except they pay no taxes), seem like they run churches like businesses. If you visit the bible belt you'll find these guys competing for business. There's a church on every street corner - just like gas stations, banks, stereo shops, and supermarkets. They have to "sell" their church and often the indication of a "good pastor" is his ability to excite or entertain his congregation. "Oh, pastor bob is so good...he really rallies us on Sundays..."
