My religion is Christianity. I have worshipped all my life in churches that believe the gifts of the holy spirit are manifested today. Therefore I have gone to non denominational,Commmunity, Assemblies of God, Church of God Cleveland and Four Square.
I believe in God...but not religion...which is man made...man is driven by greed, power and money first and foremost...even the best do gooders are tempted....man also fears making decission, so he needs a leader, be it spiritual or governmental...to me, it's all about politics and control. I believe religion was organized in the beginning to lay down a set of rules to guide man...otherwise all would be chaotic...I question why man kept women from reading the Bible, or even before that, why only the priests were allowed to read the Bible...doesn't make sense to me...not to mention...don't you think if God were really the God which the Bible describes...there would be one religion?????
I am agnostic...I believe in the God force within....good vs evil...and the power of the mind to create it's own virtual reality, which all humanity does.
I've always liked Thomas Paine's quote ... "To do good is my religion."
Raised Catholic, drifted into Buddhism and Taoism, now pretty much an agnostic. But I've always been intrigued by religion and the different things people believe ...
I am affiliating myself with the 'Flying Spaghetti Monster Religion'. I happen to think that the 8 'I'd really rather you didn'ts' are right on! and nothing will make me think differently!
I wanted to add we vistied a methodist church this past sunday and had a really nice time.
