Some of my JW friends occasionally have moments of guilt when they say things like "I'm not supposed to be talking to you" or "If people found out I was still coming here...". Once they realize that a home has a subversive element, they usually note that and will then stay away - or they will send an older couple with more experience.
I was living with a lesbian and a gay man who were both hardcore atheists. They didn't know I'm lesbian too and that I was atheist for a good part of the time I was studying with them. Technically they shouldn't have been visiting me at all either! Lol. (By the way, it wasn't them that converted me to deism.)

You are so right. I know of one JW who told on her JW friend to the elders hat she was studying with because her JW friend was continuing to talk to her lesbian daughter who was living with her lesbian lover. She told the elders that she didn't feel comfortable knowing that her friend was still dealing with her lesbian daughter, and that she felt that she was condoning her lesbian lifeystyle.

Oddly if you speak to them in Arabic, they tend to scratch their heads and walk away.

I would say you believe in what you want to because I know where my walk with the Lord is taking me, hope to see you in Heaven, have a nice day while I am keeping them outside all of this time.

Have You Tried to Reason from the Scriptures with a Jehovah's Witness?

Last year, a couple came to the door. I found myself going through the NT with her (the one who did the talking) and saying repeatedly 'You're still not listening..'

Once... only once i talked with them... wanted to ask a few things, to hear their answers/explanations i.e.....

The biblical phrase "thou shall not suffer a witch to live". Told them this teaching was responsible for mass destruction of people throughout the ages by burning, hanging, drowning. They replied "witches are demon worshipers, a blot in God's eye and don't deserve to live." So... i asked them what if they were accused by jealous neighbors, or Town elders wanting their farms/land, or these "witches" merely had a cat and talked to themselves? Did that warrant execution?

They were unable to answer this, because "the Word is Law and not to be interpreted".

Felt it was pointless to ever engage in conversation with them ever again, so to this day, it's "no thank you, goodbye".

Like true zealots of any persuasion - their minds are shuttered into a narrow corridor. Only one light, from one direction, shines for them.

It's like only being able to watch the sun by facing north, closing one eye, and covering the other with your hand.

Hmm these stories of Jehovah Witnesses sound a LOT like a lot of Catholics. Gambling is a SIN ... Well except for Bingo, Raffles, and Casino nights.

Who is making the effort to come to your door or greet you in public?

A debate is performed between two parties in which both have exerted time and effort to prepare with the goal of winning. But, then again one party has made the effort to come to your door or greet you in public so it does not appear with the intent of debating.

So what purpose then is there in the visit?

These stories are made possible, for the most part, by people who made the effort to greet someone or come to someone's door and offer a spiritual thought or two (or three). So I would respectfully say it's not the same as a lot of Catholics or other organized religions

And as far as the people who saw or heard a JW behave contrary to what their expectation was of a JW it actually reinforces that, as a group, Jehovah's Witnesses are different. Think, would misbehaving or unethical actions by members of other organized religious groups draw as much attention? (and please do not think for one minute that in so saying I think of JWs as superior to others...not superior... but, for most it is trying to live up to their dedication to God despite all the ugly flaws).
