I'm fine with CE/BCE, and I'm not Christian and I have nothing against going against the Christian status quo. It is just that I don't remember a single one of my teachers, most of whom were Jewish in a majority Jewish NYC public school ever using a system other than BC/AD. Maybe it was because it was way back in the 1980s. Maybe things have changed.

Maybe you don't have an axe to grind but there is a consistent tone to your posts. I apologize if I read too much into it.

I prefer BC/BCE, but BC/AD don't bother me. There are more important things to worry about.

So then we didn't go from BCE to CE year 0, based on the life of Jesus and we actually switched over in 1582?

Yes I suppose there is a tone because of the arrogance of those who always seem to think they have the truth and those of us who are not Christian are simply to be dismissed.

I stand up for what I think and if that is having a tone so be it.

Correct. The Julian calendar was used until 1582 when it was replaced by the Gregorian calendar.

Jazzymom: Three cheers for you. I couldn't agree more.

ABQConvict: I think things have changed. I didn't hear of the BCE/CE alternative until the 1990s.
