The Answer To This One Is, "Make Them Pay Taxes"
Three Years into the Pulpit Initiative – Has the IRS Responded?
Many of you are aware that in 2008, ADF launched the Pulpit Initiative. This initiative is intended to restore a pastor’s right to speak freely from the pulpit without fearing any government censorship or control. Pastors have the right to proclaim biblical truth from their pulpits without having to worry about the government looking over their shoulder and threatening their churches with revocation of tax exempt status if they say something the IRS doesn’t like.
2008 was the inaugural year for the Pulpit Initiative. Thirty-three churches from 22 different states participated. The pastors preached sermons that addressed the candidates running for office in light of Scripture, made specific recommendations as to whether a particular candidate was worthy of a Christian’s vote, and then sent recordings of their sermons to the IRS for review.

Can't you just imagine the plight of a gay candidate if these brothers were allowed to figuratively crucify him/her?

I totally agree. Most churches nowadays are running a business instead of what they are supposed to do. Enlighten. They control, manipulate and condemn every person, even the congregations because, well you know, we are all born sinners and must repent.
If they want to bring the governement in, pay the taxes like all other businesses. Otherwise, do the job of enlightening and run the church on donations without the pastors thinking they can get rich. That isn't what it's about anyway. Pastors aren't supposed to be rich, in my opinion, because they are supposed to work for God and not man. God doesn't need the money.

Mega churches are mega business, imo, and should pay taxes..They can look at it as "tithes"
If a church looks and acts like a business, borrows money, floats bonds, buys/sells property, has financial officers, pays salaries, has an advertising campaign, etc..it should be taxed like any other business.

I absolutely agree with you 100%...which is why I no longer give money to any church nor do I attend them.
