I think my favorite author of all time has to be Mihaly Csikszenmihalyi.
His book titled "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience" written in 1990 and "The Evolving Self" written in 1993 are examples of his tremendous ability to think deeply about things that matter.

Anyone familiar with his writings?

I haven't, but I think I will be checking it out soon. Sounds interesting. Do I understand correctly that his concept of "flow" is similar to how we might think of being "in the zone," a state of utter absorption?
