Quite honestly, I don't know the answer to this one. That's what comes from being so biblically illiterate. I believe that I have been saved by my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. And I know that my final destination between here and there is a place unimaginable to the human mind. Like the song, "I can only imagine". What a great song!!!!! I would post it but laptop is too slow. What I don't know, is what happens between here and there. Being Catholic, I have the pergatory option open to me. And then I thought that I remembered that we died and didn't get lifted up until the 2nd coming. Or, are we lucky enough to be immediately taken into the presence of God? Give me some thought...also some biblical reference.

Oh, and IBC, I want what you want, too.

IBCwife,
..."and anyone else who is confused or undecided.. '

Fine!! except many of them do not feel they are confused or undecided. That's just your opinion that they are. You are entitled to your opinion. Others are just as entitled to theirs.

Dogmatic opinions are one of the reasons why so many are turned away from Christianity. I feel that if there is a reckoning in the future, there will be many who will have to answer as to why they caused so many to turn away.

I had a minister once whose sermon was on that exact topic. He knew that there were some who turned away from the church because of his personality. They didn't understand his sense of humor. He knew that there would come a time when he would have to answer for it.

There are many different ways of witnessing. Understanding of how others look at things is one way. Another is understanding that different people have different needs depending on their life experiences. Understanding what others want and need is an important virture. It's not always what you THINK they need.

Yes... I was trying to look at fatal motorcycle accident pictures that a friend had sent me. We ride... I was thinking how short life is...

I corrected my statement... I know that the atheist are not confused... but there are those that are. My opinion is meaningless.. I do no go on my opinion, but on the word of God. I am sorry that you are turned off by that. Not my intent.

Weather, the thief on the cross was with Jesus in Paradise on the day that he died. I don't know about purgatory... I did a word search of the entire bible and it didn't come up in the multiple translations that I searched. ??

Luke 23:39 One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!" 40 But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." 42 And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." 43 And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

That's what I assumed, but it confused me a bit... because he's obviously Christian, but those are Jewish/Hebrew terms.

This is the translation that I was going with. Will wait to hear from the horses mouth. He has been silent today. I have requested his presence in my THY will be done thread. I like the way he thinks.

IBC, thank you for your insight. I love the story of the theif on the cross. It gives me so much hope.

I really haven't been able to put a religious affiliation with him. And, yes, he confuses me a lot, too.
