Very, very, very, very long and I would think incredibly tedious ! There are many things I want to do, see, taste, experience and do but still in my opinion eternity would eventually become incredibly boring. I have no aspirations to eternal life. I wouldn't mind living 250 years ( in good health and active) but Eternity, Yawn !
I don't think I could bear the monotony and tedium , I would probably end up jumping from the highest cloud just for kicks...
I just want to lead a good, fun life and just cease to be. Dead as a Dodo, for good. The idea of Heaven has always puzzled me, what would we do there ? Apart from "rejoicing in the glory of god" ( as I was told by Nuns and Priests whilst growing up) which to me as an Atheist is not exactly even a remote possibility and certainly a less than attractive proposition. Would I be able to Ski, hang-glide, scuba-dive, play with animals, travel the world, eat gourmet food every day, read new books, and have a lot of fun, or would it just be kind of mind numbingly boring place where nothing ever happens of interest to me ?
I think I prefer the idea of a swift and "terminal" death, it seems so much less agonizingly dull a prospect !
Multiply waiting for the doctor/dentist/plumber by 10 zillion times and you will have an idea of what a tiny piece of eternity is.
I don't understand the desire for eternity, no matter how or what it is. I think I much rather would rather just cease to exist.
Hi, a bit intrigued with your comment. Don't you think if God gave us this life with its ups and downs, its interests, great moments, etc... something nearly every human would like to hold onto, He would make our life afterward something to live and die for? I find life interesting. I suspect the after life with an almighty God who already created such an interesting world and promises untold wonders and splendor in the next will not dissapoint. Your thoughts...?
And if some of the most wonderful people you ever knew were devout Jews, they wouldn't be there to share that time with you! You would be surrounded by totally immersed Christians who had confessed their sins aloud.
1. This world is not my home I'm just passing through
my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
2. They're all expecting me and that's one thing I know
my savior pardoned me and now I onward go
I know He'll take me through though I am weak and poor
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
3. Just up in Glory Land we'll live eternally
the Saints on every hand are shouting victory
their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven's shore
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
