Exactly.

We now even have studies using fMRI brain scans showing that people use the same part of their brain when thinking about what "God" wants, as when they think about what they want. Funny that.

Man made God(s) in their own image.

What happened to God you say........nothing God is truth. You cant change the truth, it doesn't become any more real or any less. The bible represented the times of society back then...What was useful back then would be disastrous today. If Jesus had came any sooner than he did the generational prophets, leaders, and ministers wouldn't have expanded the concept of God and divinity in the backwards ppl of those times to prepare for his arrival. (They still weren't prepared). What Moses preached was the most advanced and appropriate in his time, 15000bc? not our time. He preached of a stern disciplined, wrathful God as Yahweh which was MT. Zion. These volcanoes erupting back then had much more of a significant religious meaning than just pure science as we know today. His CONCEPTS advanced the thinking of ppl back then into the most advance of their day rather than believing many gods...The next succeeding leader, prophet built upon the next advanced concept to eventually the concept of 1 loving GOD..Then Jesus came to proclaim the most true concept representing God as the Father in the KINGDOM of Heaven; Fatherhood of God, Brotherhood of MAN. Even he has said it himself "He who has seen the Son, has seen the Father" which Jesus' personality perfectly portrayed...that's the most advanced today because its the timeless truth

You seem to portray God as being dependent on the state of history, and not the other way around.

What a curious conception of an "omnipotent" being.

That's a conception of a Omnipotent transient being. God is timeless and has infinite wisdom. He's seen the eternal future and the eternal past. That's infinite wisdom. Humans don't have anything but a human brain. The Truth today will be the truth tomorrow. It can become more vivid but wont be any more truthful. Every religion today contains a piece of truth. But there is ONE truth. IF you want to fast forward the concept of the truth before ppl are ready than you may cause more confusion then benefit. Religious wars are fought now basically over difference in ideals. Generally when a truth is revealed suddenly it results in a group saying "I told you so" and the other group getting defensive. Basically another war............................ That something timeless wisdom already knows

But if this is true, then God is actually completely impotent.

If he has "seen the eternal future," then he does not even have the power to change his own mind. The future is by definition completely set in stone and like every other entity within or without creation he can do nothing but follow a predetermined script.

Such a God can have absolutely no influence over anything.

In the Old Testament on Isaiah 9: 6-7... talks of God...``For on to us a child is born, and on to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders...and his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God , The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace......Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment, and with justice from hence forth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of host will perform this ``...................See God does not change from his goodness,.. See here He is described as The Everlasting Father and also the Son that is given .........

And I'm supposed to believe the writers and editors and translater of Isaiah because... why?
Because some people rolled a dice and took a poll?
No way Jose. Reality is understood only through science, Science is not an invisible Father, who is his own son, science is actually a practical tool for humanity. unlike religion and blind faith, which can only be tools for individuals who either cannot accept a reality distinct from what they want to believe, or who want to subjegate others and excuse themselves.

Man's view of the world evolved and continues to do so and so does his gods.

Of course if the NT supersedes the OT, that must mean the god of the OT has also been replaced, for he was a most unpleasant chap. Or did the god of the OT find himself and change
Men changed, or, rather, one man changed.
