I found this below excerpt online about Mithra and Paul's theology. I stumbled on it by accident when I was researching the book burning at Alexandria just now.
I may not be on much the next few days or weeks. I will be a bit busy, but I'll try to be back soon!
Here is the excerpt:
"I don't find it strange anymore that there is a four thousand year-old legend among the Zoroastrians; the legend of Mithra. He is supposed to have been born of a virgin on December 25th. Mithra was considered as the "lamb of god." He atoned for the sins of people by dying. Then he resurrected on the third day! There is strong reason to believe that Saint Paul fabricated the belief system of Christianity from the Zoroastrian mythology. In order to hide Paul's plagiarism . . . the Christians burned the library of Alexandria in 390 A.D. Books in that library kept Mithra's original story of which the Pauline Doctrine is an almost exact carbon copy. (George Sarton - Introduction to the History of Science) <<
>> No honest Christian scholar can deny that Saint Paul forged the belief system of Christianity from the four thousand year old Persian legend of Mithra. In order to hide Paul's plagiarism, the Church burned the library of Alexandria in 389 since that library preserved Mithra's original legend of which the Pauline doctrine is a carbon copy. (Kersey Graves - Christianity Before Christ) <<

Here is a reprint of another post I made, commenting on Paul's "conversion"
The reason many Christians go through tribulation when they accept Christ also proves......that in order for us to be completely saved...we must endure, and be willing to accept, the necessary suffering to alchemize and transform us from a fallen state to a pure state. This concept that Paul was just transformed because God decided to save him goes against this principle...and shows favoritism. Why should other people have to have faith, while Paul has it PROVEN to him that Christ is real.
(any chance of Paul having faith was circumvented here)
Why should all the other people who do evil things not have that happen to them, and not stand a chance? I bet you could take ANY wretched man, and blind him and scare him straight that way. They might think it was an alien...or they might think it was God...but they would repent out of fear, and not a love for God that was genuine.
Many, many people that are true Christians (that really love Christ) have noticed all of the things wrong with Paul's theology.
Trust me...God does not ever choose to reward treacherous works with spiritual gifts or instant salvation. We are not born again by doing evil. Where in the OT, or in Christ's own words...does it ever say that this should happen?
Remember: I am here to test scripture against scripture. This is the only way to prove whether "Sola Scriptura" is correct or not. I may agree with you on a personal level...but will differ with you when scripture says otherwise. So please do not take any of this personally...or my zeal for the truth, for that matter. I love debating these things...and I am happy to be proven wrong (WITH SCRIPTURE) if and when it can be done...so that we can get at the truth.
And if and when there are contradictions in scripture...I think we should be honest about that also.

I would not believe all this intrigue theory dan brown type ideas that belittle Christianity and attract people who need to find excuses to reject Jesus and His salvation ...... sure the Romans celebrated their gods on Dec.25... as the Christians Celebrated Jesus Christ on the same day to foil the Romans and their control
What I find interesting about Mithra and Christianity is the two stories almost are word for word. One also has to understand that during the time of Christ the Middle East was occupied by Rome. The Roman soldier mostly believed in Mithra and followed its teachings. To get the Romans to convert to Christianity the story of Jesus follows the Mithras storied almost word for word. this made it allot easier for the Roman soldier to accept Jesus.

It's amazing what one will find...if one takes the time to critically examine the belief system that has been handed down through the centuries and its origins. This is why it is so utterly important to allow the spirit WITHIN to guide one into ALL truth...and not a man made book.
