Think again. If you still have the misconception that the crusades were all bad and nothing good came from them, how about the end of the dark ages? How about the Renaissance.... and discovering new trade routes aka America.

Stop buying into the Anti-Christian bashing campaigner and do some actual research. Yes, the Crusades were bad, very bad... Hello, genocide?!?

The crusades made the west meat up with the Islams it gave them advances in science, medicine, and architecture.

Here's a good place to start.

I guess that's a good slant on it to make yourself feel better about the whole thing.

If you're so sure of it all, why feel the need to project it on everyone else. Do you seriously think you're going to change anyone's mind because you sent them a link to Wikipedia on the Crusades?

I do agree the Western World did benefit from the Crusades.

The question I have is:

Did the Muslims, Jews and Arabic/Eastern Christians benefit from them?

Especially as related to the "Crusades of the North" or "Baltic Crusades" which lasted from 1100-1522.

The Crusades were two or three centuries before the Renaissance and the so-called Age of Discovery. There is very little if any connection between them.

Mgt04, I'm not trying to make anyone feel better about it. Just tired of everyone claiming Christianity kept us in the dark ages. When it actually helped propel us out of it.

Woodrow, since the advancement of science, medicine, and other trades is always a good thing it benefits those that allow it to. If you deny it and have little or nothing to do with it, your culture ends up in the dark.

Catman, do some research and you will find the connection.

Exit the "dark ages"...The Age of Enlightenment (or simply the Enlightenment or Age of Reason) was an elite cultural movement of intellectuals in 18th century Europe that sought to mobilize the power of reason in order to reform society and advance knowledge. It promoted intellectual interchange and opposed intolerance and abuses in Church and state. Age of Enlightenment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I agree it was a good thing, but Science, medicine etc were stifled in the mid-eastern countries and northeast European countries by the Crusades.

Islam's Golden age coincides close to the Time of Europe's Dark ages and the decline of the Golden age of Islam, follows close to the times of the crusades.
