To be truthful, there was a time in history, not really so long ago, when Baptists were considered a heretical cult. In early America, Methodists persecuted Baptists. Of course, in Europe, Catholics persecuted all non-Catholics for centuries.

If a fellowship of believing Christians were to be established today, that faithfully followed only the teachings of the Bible, ignoring all the errant teachings of man (and woman...), it would be branded an extremist cult. I would welcome such a cult.

Except for popularity, I don't know the difference between a cult and a religion.

Why does it matter? Religion should have no place in politics.

Boxcar:" Except for popularity, I don't know the difference between a cult and a religion."

One denies it, the other encourages it.
