Atheists, why do you attempt to apply logic?
Religion and spirituality are alogical,
alogical ( comparative more alogical, superlative most alogical)
- Not based upon logic or reasoned argument.
- Opposed to logic.
Alogical and illogical are not synonymous.
illogical
1. Contrary to logic; lacking sense or sound reasoning.
I am just curious why atheists try to apply logic to religion and spirituality?

What atheist would apply logic to religion or spirituality? Both are illogical.

I'm getting tired of everyone using Webster to try to prove their case.
But if you don't use logic to make sense of something, what do you use? Chance? un-logic? Numerology?

Do you just not like defining terms or webster?

When you can't use logic to make sense of something, the answer is faith. This is what faith is. That is why spirituality and religion are alogical. Just as atheism is without a belief in God, religion and spirituality is beyond the scope of logic.
This is where opinion comes in. you are trying to apply sense to something that you don't agree with. To me spirituality just makes sense. When it comes to religion and spirituality all you can do is apply a point of view. However, I have a unique view on religion and spirituality, I not only believe in somethings, but I can see why people believe in things even if I do not.

I have no reason to justify religion or spirituality even though I already have several times. If you choose not to practice them, that is your choice. Just as it is my choice to practice them.

Religion is based on socially constructed values and traditions, emotion, and wishful thinking, not logic or empiricism. People who are religious believe in religion because of some or all of the following: social / family ties, cultural background, wishful thinking, emotional needs, romantic relationships, fear, and guilt. Logic or reason is not up there at all.

You forgot an understanding of such things. That's right, I have no social/family ties, cultural background, wishful thoughts, emotional needs, romantic relationship needs(really?), fear or guilt associated with my beliefs. I choose to believe what I do, because they make sense to me and I understand them. Logic... no, because it is alogical. reason... yes, because it makes sense to those that believe and gives them reason for hope and other joys that can only be filled by their beliefs.

This is not a unique view on religion and spirituality, BTW.
