Yah, because America was so much more in-tune with god when we had legalized slavery, Jim Crow laws, legalized lynchings, and voting restricted to rich white males alone. All of those things are so much like the teachings of Jesus, you know.
I honestly don't get why fundies are right-wing. Yes, I know, they don't like abortion or equal rights for LGBT people, but all the Biblical commands to avoid violence and take care of the poor seem to go right over their heads. As a whole, it seems like atheists and agnostics are more compassionate than fundamentalist Christians.
