Of course not. Nobody in their rational mind would do so as a straight up trade.
If there were extenuating circumstances, perhaps. If the person who knew how to cure AIDS, cancer and the common cold hated me, but had not had the time to write down his discovery, I would consider it. But then I am not dying for that person, I am dying for the larger cause of helping humanity.
If you are trying to draw some comparison to Jesus, it is weak. For the sake of argument, lets grant the gospel stories as true. JC died knowing that it was a temporary thing, that not only did he have eternal life (having had it previously), he knew he would still have eternal life, plus be raised from the dead in this one as well.
A better analogy might be: Would you suffer a minor hangnail to save your entire family from an excruciating death?
If I was in a group of hostages would I volunteer to take _____ place as the first hostage to be killed, no way (pregnant woman excepted).
Would I perform an act that would risk me losing my life for a comrade who I did particularly like, I would like to think that I would having risked my life for individuals I didn't particularly like while serving the military.
But then again risk is a whole lot different than certainty.
I said No, not just because I don't want to die (but that is PART of my reason). In general, you'd do the world a disservice by keeping someone who hates ANYONE alive. Why save a hateful person, so they can go off and hate someone else and maybe even kill them?
The only people who should answer Yes to this question are those who are even more hateful.
Oh I can see a "cos jesus did that for you' coming real soon...
