One day religion will be gone from this world, looked on as silly myth and legend. The world is slowly becoming more secular. The more humans evolve, the more secular it will become. Maybe not in our lifetime but it will happen some day.

Who is to say that in the atheist world, people wouldn't step into the void left by taking out MLK and In and Out Burger? The notion that an atheist world would lose out on these kinds of things is an odd one. Without religion, we wouldn't have MLK, but we would either not need him in the first place, or have a secular leader rise up and lead the movement.

Religion isn't necessary for these good things to happen.

At the rate its happening, it would be in another world not yet realized and most likely would be called Fantasy Island!

Look at the world 500 years ago, and then look at today. Religion is still important, but I would wager it held a lot more sway back in those days. Who knows how prominent religion will be in another 500 years.

It would be about the same. There are athetists who do good works just like religious folks. There are also athetists who do evil things just like people who are supposedly pious.

Well I agree with this. But I disagree with the purposeful ignoring of reality as it has been and is now, or the twisting of it. The fact is, Religion has been, and will continue to be VERY relevant in the human consciousness and ability to do good on and for this planet!
