These articles suggest that there's astronomical evidence that Jesus could have been born on April 10, 5 B.C. and crucified on November 24, 29 A.D.

Jesus - His real Birthday

Jesus - the crucifixion date

So I guess we should have traded Christmas for Easter when rearranging the pagan holidays...ooops.

Ive heard that chances of Jesus' birth was also, maybe in the fall, rather than in the dead of winter, as the shepherds were still out in the fields tending to the sheep, where in the dead of winter they wouldnt be out there like that.
And as far as his death....I think Ive heard the lunar calendar date 'Nisan 15'.

I thought everybody already knew they just made up those dates to coincide with solstice celebrations. It was one of many tricks to help sell it to the pagans, like shorting the top part of the cross for pendants so it would look more like Thor's hammer.

#1 best marketing move was probably doing away with the jewish circumcision rule, but those date changes are a close second.

But that's the norm in Australia!

Phillychief...I think most of us are aware of that fact, but there has been much debate as to what the actual dates are/were of Christ's birth/death.

Well there's considerable debate on his existence as well. Maybe establishing the dates will help with that, but I think that's putting the wagon before the horse, no?

Does this mean that we can keep December 25 just for Santa? No one would get upset if we sang Jingle Bells or Frosty the Snowman? Could we have Xmas parties with booze?

Just think, no more Nativity Scenes at the Mall.

Well they'd just have the nativity scene on display in April or August (which is what I thought before was the alleged b-day). Heck, it won't be long before they do that anyway. Stores and tv shopping channels have already started peddling x-mas stuff.
