I do not need a deity, a threat of an eternity burning in a "lake of fire", or a 2000 year old book of mythology, and ramblings to tell me:
1) that I need and want to show compassion to others
2) to treat people like I would would want to be treated
3) to know the difference between right & wrong
4) to have standards, and morals
5) not to become a MANIACAL SOCIOPATH!
Heck, if the only thing keeping you from becoming a raging sociopath is a fear of god, or an eternity in hell, or whatever you may think may happen after death seems pretty weak to me.
You mistakenly believe the Bible is a rule book-it is not!

Oh, really? Well, it seems a lot of fundies seem to treat it as if it is some sort of rule book, and try to live their life like it is, and feel EVERYONE should do that. Living your life according to some 2000 year old book is just ridiculous, IMO. Personally, I couldn't care less what the bible is considered.

Well, if you're going to discuss it, you should have some clue what it says.
I do have a clue what it says, and I agree with basically none of it. Many people do use the bible as a rule book, especially when trying to tell other people how they should live their own lives. You can stick your head in the sand, and pretend people do not use the bible in such fashion, but they do.
I never actually said the bible was rule book, that was you sticking words in my mouth. I said what I think it is; a book of mythology and ramblings.
I'll go one further, the bible seems like it was written as guide on how to live life in a primitive society, and to try to explain how the world worked. To me, it has no relevance to modern society.
I like how you quibble about the bible as a rule book, yet say nothing about not needing deities or threats of eternal damnation to be a good person. Easier to quibble about nothing, than to actually discuss something, huh?

This is a waste of my time. I shall leave you to your ramblings.
