It's all us atheists picking up the slack.

We believe that man is not good, when compared with God.

Let me get this straight ,God for whatever reason decides to make a species called humans, these created humans must now strive to achieve an unobtainable condition called perfection or no sin, failure to achieve this utopia results in a direct path to a place called hell gee thanks
What exactly does the big guy get out of this arrangement?

Fear of god and hatred of others is the mantra of religion. When the programming is complete, religion teaches the follower to hate themselves. Self-hatred and shame are important factors in many mental disorders, especially disorders that involve a perceived defect of oneself. Self-hatred is also a prime feature of many personality disorders.

1 Timothy 4:4 begins with: "For everything created by God is good"

I know this passage is regarding forbidden foods, but if God created us, then from this passage are we not also good?

I wonder what Christians think of their doctrine when it's laid out like that, in simplicity. Does the thought of hell make them feel like they have no choice but to try to win God's favor? Sort of like business owners who pay mob bosses. The owners give the money so they won't suffer the consequences of a ruthless gang.

This reminds me of the Catholic saints who would inflict pain on themselves because they thought it pleased God. Senseless and sad.

God created man, gave him a set of rules to follow. Man sinned, thereby signalling the fall. You are 100% backwards with your theology. But unless you believe, none of this will make any sense to you.

The notion is just another way to attempt to control humanity in general to conform to the will of the few.
He gave us free will, did he not?

And humanity needs controls. If you teach children that there are no consequences for their actions on earth, they will act accordingly.

You do not have the answers one way or the other, but if you base it upon reality and where logic fits in within our realty, everything that we do has consequences.

So is it not more logical to assume that we have consequences even in death?

Just another of god's failed solutions, and this one could be called a mega fail, but not to worry, it's just a fictional story.
