People worship and make Idols out of many things and people today ; many of these are destructive to oneself and to a nation at large, but, the stragedy of Satan is to dupe people into thinking they arent that bad to engage in , that he himself doesnt exist, that you deserve whatever you want to do (entitle-itis) , that there is no ultimate moral accountability for actions, and that there will be lots of great companionship once you enter Hell with him. So far in america, its working splendidly --- the greatest shock of a persons life will be two seconds after they expire to this short earthly existence. Then like a Venus Flytrap, youre captured with no escape. Its our choice and in fact, we choose our destiny : With God or Satan.

I agree. Thats why a personal dynamic relationship with our personal theistic Creator isnt religion, per se, but a relationship just as you have a relationship with your closest loved ones on earth and would never call THAT a religion. Even Jesus put down religion that the high religious Leaders were teaching in his day. It never was about a bunch of religiousity practicing by keeping rules, traditions, and pomp .

Wrong. Satanism is very widespread especially in America and its followed by all age groups , even well into adulthood. In fact, a Heathen or Hedonist is demonstrating allegiance to Satans ideologies oftentimes without even being aware of it. Other times, Satan following is more structured such as Anton LeVey's style of satanism. Satan is hardly 'a mythical character' like in a red jumpsuit ... he is real as you or I , and, following him is a very real practice . As for Teens and Young Adults, you cant go to a Rock concert /Heavy Metal Concert without witnessing definitive signs of satan(ism) being portrayed outwardly , since the major agenda of Satan is for willful rebellion to morals and authority be perpetuously carried out with the greatest medium being popularized music . The allegiance to Satan is seen in the very overt as well as more subtle forms such as popular Singers that encourage anti-godly behaviour including but not limited to : A disdain toward authority especially law enforcement, all forms of sexual immorality and perversion, entitle-itis culiminating in hedonism , the degradation of women particularly in rap, rock, and metal 'music' , and generally...making Oneself anwerable to no one . In fact here in the USA, we make such bands and Singers into multi million dollar empires as a reward for their spread of moral degradation. All without so much as blink.

Wrong, satan is a transliteration of the Hebrew sawtan or sawtawn. It is pretty easy to see where the xian devil got its name.

Going by the answers given here, I think it's pretty safe to say that no one posting them understands what Laveyan Satanism is. To you, I would recommend that you buy a copy of the satanic bible if you really want to understand what it is. I bought mine out of sheer curiosity for about $7.50 off of amazon. It's a decent and entertaining read.
In a nutshell though, satanists DO NOT believe in any mythological supernatural being such as a God or Satan. Infact, Satanists subscribe to the belief that they are their own God of sorts. Satan is not a real, living entity, conscious or a physical thing that can be interacted with. It is a symbol, something ethereal, something that basically doesn't exist except as an emotional attachment and personal dream. It's also important to note that Satanism isn't really a "religion" but more of a philosophy. Its teachings are based on individualism, self-control and "eye for an eye" morality.
You've said it much more eloquently then when I tried to say something similar in another thread. I only went into that they (the followers of LaVey's, Church of Satan) don't believe in god or Satan. It pretty much fell on deaf ears there too.

Satan did not exist before Christianity. It was an excuse for not so good Christians to explain away the bad things that happened in the world and also to persecute those whom they did not like.
It was also a way to persecute some nature religions which predated Christianity and to name them false. Some did have a horned god, but it was not the biblical Satan, but a representation of nature.
There are also some misguided naive people who say they are Satanists just to counter what to their minds are the wrongs of other religions and/or society. Years back people claimed to be Satanists, but it was not much more than an excuse for orgies for many.
Alistair Crowley was not a Satanist. He was a magician. The saying 'Do What Thou Wilt' - ends with - 'That Thou Harm None'. He used a lot of sex in his magic and he parted with conventional norms. For this others labeled him a Satanist and he was a showman, so enjoyed the notoriety. There is a book out that speculates that Crowley was a secret agent for the British.
We, with our negativity, and intolerance and lust for power and unquenchable greed, are the source of much of the evil in the world. If we worked on our own bad qualities instead of looking outside of ourselves, the world would be a much better place. I think this is what Jesus was trying to get across on his followers when he said to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's. That if each of us tried to be better - much of our outer world would take care of itself. Things would have to improve.

As I told you earlier, you are wrong. You do not know what LaVeyan Satansism is..... clearly. There is no conscious effort on the part of adherents to follow a supernatural being named Satan. If you want to make the argument that they are supporting the agenda of your religions Satan inadvertantly and unknowingly, thats another matter. Don't try and confuse the reading audience about what Satanism is as a philosophy though.
