I think a being's experience as an ant, if reincarnation is real, would probably be fleeting and almost a non-experience. Very very sub-conscious, and that's why we probably won't really 'experience' being an ant in any lifetimes.

I agree! Of the 30 or so books I have on reincarnation these two are my favorites. Whenever I have felt down and out about life I go back and read Michael Newton, especially Journey of Souls (his first one) again. Also, I wouid highly suggest reading them in order.

After reading this entire thread, I feel I need to make an observation.
The subject of re-incarnation was posted here on the religion board, and from what I know through research of spiritual behavior, and spiritualism, religion has nothing to do with it.
Many in this thread have expressed their belief of, or against re-incarnation based on their religion.
Only with a religious inference (which is a human condition) is spiritualism examined on a human level.
Spiritualism is not based on any religion.
For the most part, it is outside the realm of human comprehension.
As humans, we are only allowed to know that which is deemed necessary, and the remainder to be learned through spiritualism.
Many here (including your's truly) have given what they believe to be the correct view, or belief regarding the spiritual world.
As stated above, many of the opinions here are based strictly on religious teachings.
Most religions have their own set of beliefs, based on many different factors, and interpretations.
I am not a religious person, and base my opinions, and beliefs on what I consider the source, that being the spirits themselves, along with research and study on the subject.
This forum is titled "Religion and Spirituality", but I don't believe the two are connected in any way, other than the human need to treat them as one.
Bob.

What if you were burned at the stake in a past life? Or if your mother in this lifetime was your worst enemy in another? No, I think it best that we don't remember. I mean, think of all the baggage that people carry from this one. . .

As a Pagan I do believe in reincarnation myself. While I don't believe we keep coming back to get it right much like Buddist believe, I believe that we have a choice to come back or not. Maybe there is something you want to experience or find an old love & see if you can recapture them & do it all over again with them. I feel like I've lived another life I know things that I have never experienced or could have known in this life. Call it what you want but that's my feelings on the subject.

There is no evidence for reincarnation, absolutely no scientific evidence. But then again, theists are so delusional so they will lie and invent everything that will assuage their panic fear of the finality of death.

So why bother? If we cannot understand it, we cannot know anything about it. If we cannot know anything about it, there is nothing to discuss.
Why bother to seek something, or live your life in a certain way, when by your own definition, it is unattainable and you cannot be certain if your life choices support or hinder any given spiritual goal?

I would not stick to firmly to that statement. You have not read everything in the world that there is to read.
I'm not providing this link to just read, there is also a list of books that contain studies and evidence of reincarnation.

Fortunately for me I think reincarnation highly unlikely, but I have to say that I completely fail to understand how people find the idea of repeating life over and over comforting. I would regard that as its own built-in version of hell. I am looking forward to oblivion, thank you very much. And as I like to say, being an adolescent once is more than enough ;-)
I'm with those who feel that an affinity for reincarnation goes hand-in-glove with a lack of acceptance of one's mortality. We've been conditioned to live in terror of death. Once you let go of that it's not a problem at all.
