I know what you mean, but I think there's a distinction between someone who practices their religion faithfully and a religious fanatic. The fanatics are the truly annoying ones.

People from any group have the potential to annoy... if you are the kind of person who can be annoyed by them. I would not limit it to the religious like the OP wants to. I am more than sure my own peers on the anti religion side of the fence can be annoying to some as well.

There is little point in worrying about it, or in name calling them though. Instead work by example and simply represent yourself and your own ideas and positions as best you can. Try to improve the behavior of your own peers too where possible. And let the opposition hang themselves with their poor behavior.

I have said it often on these fora that quite often the best attack the non religious can make on the religious is to simply keep them talking and let them hang themselves in their own nonsense.
