Joseph Stalin, the dictator leader of State Atheism of USSR (Soviet Union) was very Anti-Religion, particularly Anti-Christian, that he murdered tens of millions of Christians, and destroyed many historical churches and cathedrals because he hated Christians, and religion so much. Many synagogues, and mosques were also shut down and destroyed.

Why did Stalin persecute and murder Christians, as well as destroying churches and cathedrals, and shutting down thousands of them?

Sadly, it is often forgotten about it.

Power and ideology.

Nothing to do with atheism.

But Stalin, along with all communist leaders, were atheists. They all are responsible for murdering hundreds of millions of religious people because they were against religion.

Atheism only means that a person doesn't believe that gods exist. Nothing else.

Because that's what happens when atheists get into power. They fear religion and will do anything they can to eliminate it.

A lot of theists fear religion as well - particularly someone else's.

But this thread isn't about them. It's about atheists that burn and destroy churches. It's what atheism has always done when it got control.

Yea right.

It is militant atheism at its best. Listening to and reading some of the postings of atheists here and elsewhere some would like nothing more to classify theism as a form of mental illness and lock up 90% of the world's population.

What did Marx say about religion? It was a bad thing and needed to be destroyed.

I think the word "apologist" fits in regards to your post. Plus the speed with which you used to say "nothing to see here".

Stalin didn't just kill christians. He killed anyone that disagreed with him. He did so because he was a dictator and a psychopath, not because he was an atheist. Atheism had nothing to do with why Stalin did what he did. Stalin is an example of what happens when a dictator is in power, not what happens when an atheist takes power.

If he had been a Christian he wouldn't have done it. Christians don't do that stuff. But in the absence of a belief in God, life is devalued. Hence, we get guys like Stalin.
