Would you have obeyed? What if you thought God told you to go out and kill your neighbors today? Would you have obeyed?

No because such a command would not agree with God's previous commandment to love thy neighbor. It's a pointless hypothetical because after Christ, God has never commanded Christians to kill people.

What does that have to do with anything? The fact is that people thought God commanded them to kill people and they did. It was a simple question: Would you have done what God instructed or not when the command was given? If not you would be disobeying God. Trying to weasel yourself out of answering won't work. Here is a man who followed what he thought God commanded him to do today:

"Sheriff officials say the man accused of murdering his girlfriend, mutilating her body and possibly participating in cannibalism is telling investigators that “God told me to do it.”
Cannibalism Suspect: 'God Told Me To Do It'

God did not command him to destroy men, women, and children nor did he think that God commanded him to do so nor did he do so. In fact he even spared Agag himself.

Common Sense Tranlation (CST):
Now go, attack the Amalekites and all who spare not but put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys

If you think that killing men, women, and children is evil then you should be glad that God destroyed Agag and the Amelekites.

Yes He did.

"New Living Translation (©2007)
Now go and completely destroy the entire Amalekite nation--men, women, children, babies, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and donkeys."

English Standard Version (©2001)
Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
'Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'"

Holman Christian Standard Bible (©2009)
Now go and attack the Amalekites and completely destroy everything they have. Do not spare them. Kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and donkeys.'"

International Standard Version (©2012)
Now, go and attack Amalek. Completely destroy all that they have. Don't spare them, but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, both ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'"

1 Samuel 15:3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'"

Now please answer the questions and don't try to rewrite the Bible. "Would you have obeyed? What if you thought God told you to go out and kill your neighbors today? Would you have obeyed?" Yes or no.

Btw, people have many different ideas about what God is and is not. What is God in your view? Like the God personified in the Bible keeping tabs on things?

You put yourself in a terrible dilemma and we can all see what the truth is.

Either you would have to
1. Follow the commands of your god and "kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey." or
2. Disobey your god.

And the truth is you won't tell us which of these you would choose. While every rational and moral person would automatically choose number 2.

you are asking about square circles.
All I can tell you is that there is no such beast.
The question is moot

The question is perfectly valid while your answer is nonsensical because you have painted yourself into a corner and your only option is to deny that you have.

What does your question have to do with anything? It hasn't happen, and it's not going to happen. Your OT example only applied to the Israelites as a last resort to protect his chosen people. God gave the Amalekities advanced warning of his judgement, and they chose to thumb their nose at him instead. The blood is on their hands, not God's.

The Bible also tells us that Satan is the great deceiver. We must test the spirits by the Word of God so a voice telling me to murder most certainly would be from Satan, not God.
