Does God give the Pope magical power, IOW - power of the Holy Spirit?
If this is true, should we worship the Pope as a semi-divine being?
Your kidding right? No to all three questions. The pope is just a man and no more special than you and I. The whole idea of the papacy just seemed to be a well established scam to me.

it could be argued, I suppose, that God made Hitler top himself - a bit too late though surely.
The church does what it can to stop materialism, but the horse and the water...
