A lot of people love to extrapolate doctrines, starting with Bible passages and adding onto them with their opinions.

Aside from Vizio's abysmal understanding of Romans 1, he also completely ignores Romans 2.

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

Our church considers themselves to be 'fundamentalist'. Which in their terms means Bible and nothing but Bible.

Very often we encounter doctrines that seem to make sense to folks, but when confronted with: "Can you teach that doctrine, using Bible passages only, no inferences and no logical constructs?" Those other 'Christian' doctrines often fall apart.

So does your church accept lesbian couples? Afterall, the Bible doesn't condemn lesbians. It doesn't say anything at all about them.

God is love.

We love everyone.

Everyone sins, we dislike sin. But we love everyone.

Well that's nice. But does your church consider a lesbian to be 'sinning' just because they are a lesbian?

Does your church expect lesbians to pretend to be straight and marry men?

Or are they accepted as themselves and are accepted if they are in a loving committed relationship/marriage with another woman?

I see sexual preference as rooted in genetics and/or early development. Therefore, I don't mix it with religion. And my stance comes from the psychology books found in Catholic school. In the realm of Catholicism, some parishes don't like gays and lesbians and some parishes, typically in more hip urban cores, actively embrace them.

That said, I think the reason the Bible may not mention lesbians is because, from all the stories in the Bible, most men were very alpha/predatory and women were, for the most part, beta/in supportive roles. In most passages, it will say something like 'Jesus was ministering to the people, and the women stood nearby and listened ... ' Stuff like that.

Within recent years, a lesbian in the greater Washington DC area was denied Communion at her mother's own funeral. That priest has been reassigned and/or has been disciplined. Most Catholics, except for the rednecks, were pissed.

I don't have a problem with ranking sin, as long as it's your own ranking. That's what your conscience is about.

You can try to prove me wrong but you haven't yet. I've pointed out the verses, given you the Greek word, explained that the women burned in passions....you gloss right over it.

Not much we can do for you at this point. It's up to you to open your mind and attempt to understand.

Who doesn't burn with passion every now and then? Perhaps a person who is that troubled can go to the doctor for a referral to a surgeon who will remove their pituitary gland. This kind of guilt trip is exactly why I like to discuss the striations of "reality" among the various organized, and disorganized, branches of Christianity ... and feel fortunate to have been born to parents who have a sense of humor about the human condition.
