To me, the believers are a scary people. History has shown me that no matter how much I try to be a good person, I am always wrong, as long as I do not worship anything.

...And because I am wrong, there are people who think I am less human and there are people who will take a life of a non-believer because of what they believe.

...I never understood the point of this...

I think that eventually believers will be such a small minority, at least in the educated, developed world that they will be powerless and we will finally have peace.

On behalf of all true "believers", I apologize for anyone calling themselves a person of God who told you you are somehow "less human" than anyone else

I'm also sorry that you have found the believers you've come in contact with to be "scary people". That's really sad.

Actually, no not according to Jesus - he came to bring a sword:

'Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword' Matt.10:34.

Everyone worships something.

In every soul there is a God-shaped hole.

Remember preschool or kindergarten when you tried to put a round block into a square hole?

Didn't work.

You are wise to be scared of some Believers...others would sacrifice their life to shield another (including yours).
It's not so difficult to figure out the difference in them...they are usually pretty "upfront" about such attitude, if they hold it.

Truth be told, I expect the unbelievers in this country will start persecuting believers before too long. Christians are already being called bigots for holding to beliefs that the Christian faith has held to for 2000 years. We have seen a shift in just the last few years against Christianity.

It will never happen...That is just your persecution complex showing...Most of my family are believers, and there are no problems, but then they are not bigots of any kind...I have no quarrel with believers as long as they treat others fairly and without prejudice.

We have a lot more to fear from the religious...We are not the ones committing hate crimes against abortion clinics or against homosexuals, or discrimination against non believers...

Against certain forms of Christianity - I would agree. In my opinion, a very welcome shift against fundamentalists of any stripe.

But most Christians I know, that I come into contact with on a day-to-day basis are not - thankfully - bible-thumping fundamentalists. They are good-hearted folks who attend services and try to live by the Golden Rule as they believe Jesus would have. They accept that their belief may not be shared by all but they also believe god's love is a vast umbrella, encompassing all.

I may not - in fact, I do not - share their beliefs. But I admire the way they live their lives. They walk the walk. And shun no others for not sharing their beliefs.

Vizio, if you're concerned about being persecuted. You might take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask yourself "why me, and not the other 93.7%* of Christians?"

*Pulled out of my butt. Might be exaggerated. Slightly.
