that would be a literal translation.
it makes sense but i am wary of literal translations.
however when we live in a nation consumed with debt it makes a lot of sense.

That's why there are financial crisis, secondary mortgage meltdown crisis...banker are greedy devils who want to extract more money by encouraging hard working people to buy what they cannot afford.
Q: Why are there bad things happening like financial crisis, provided that God exists and he loves us?
A: Because God told us to keep our money and owe no man anything! If everyone followed God's doctrines, there would be no financial crisis!
But... but... I WANNA HAVE that new lawn mower / golf club set / BMW / big screen HDTV. God wants me to be happy, doesn't He? And after all, I didask for the opportunity to get it all, at low interest no less... in my prayers last month, and here's His answer! A credit approval from GreedMonsters Bank LLC!

My advice to you, O Doubters, is borrow what you need as God will provide if indeed Jesus doesn't turn uo tomorrow as we are daily assured will happen and we will be too, too involved in fighting the antychrist (with 6 legs and horns) at Armageddon (or maybe on the other side) or ascending from the grave or alabaster urn possibly to meet with Him in midair as saith Paul for anyone to be thinking of collecting the debt.

God also said usury for poor people was a sin. If this was really a Christian country my house should be paid off by now.
Exodus 22:25 says, “If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury”.
There is only 1 other indisputable bible truth:
"It is better to dwell in the wilderness than with a contentious and an angry woman." Proverbs 21:19... which more appropriately translates into: God says get away from the nagging wife and go fishing!
There's a fine line between quoting the Bible and saying "Look, here. This is pretty good advice," and saying "The WHOLE reason we're in this mess is because we didn't follow god's word." The former could be put in the context of any civilization or society wherein taking on massive loads of debt is bad and will have repercussions. The latter implies that god tested our human resolve (I love how god tests one country, usually America) by throwing us subprime mortgages just to see if we were paying attention to that verse in Romans.
I agree that it's good advice not to fall into debt but I didn't need the ancient book of riddles to tell me that.
