No, mams, it's not that your points were lost; it's that your points are erroneous. No biggie.

It took many years for some Christians to accept heliocentrism. It will take many for some of them to accept modern scientific findings as well. Perhaps surprisingly, the US is the only first-world nation where biblical creationism is still accepted by a majority of the population.

I don't think it's the majority. I think it's a vocal minority. At least I sincerely hope so.

Well, recent polls show that more than 50% of Americans believe God created humans in present form some 6000-10,000 years ago. You can find the polls online, if you like.

I realize the limitations of opinion polls, but similar polls taken around the world show the US to be stuck in the Dark Ages, so to speak.

Why is believing in biblical creationism scary? What is so concerning about holding this belief to those that do not hold it?

It concerns me that so many people can deny reality. Such a phenomenon shows that the masses are being controlled by something other than their intellect. When so many people can be fooled into believing a creation myth, they can be fooled into believing anything, not the least of which would be electing unqualified leaders.

Well I didn't say it was scary. I said this was scary:

"U.S. Lags World in Grasp of Genetics and Acceptance of Evolution:"

Its a public acceptance of evolution poll.

And it is scary. Unbelievably scary. Why? Because civilized progressive nations embrace science. They don't thwart it because it doesn't fit into a particular agenda. If the trend continues we'll be a nation of people with our heads in the sand.
